Dollar Tree Gardening: Awesome Finds for Your Garden
Do you hear that? It’s the Dollar Tree gardening section calling. Don’t miss out! Garden deals just don’t last at this store. You might as well stalk your local dollar store for seeds, bulbs, and other garden goodies. That’s pretty much what I do!
Seems like Dollar Tree is actually pretty good about stocking garden stuff before we really need it.
This sure makes for a less gloomy end to the winter season! I LOVE shopping for gardening accessories!
I decided to take lots of photos and keep track of the Dollar Tree garden supplies for sale in hopes that it would help someone plan and prepare for the growing season.
I’ll be updating this post regularly with new finds, so have a look and check back again soon!
Dollar Tree Seeds
Without a doubt, the Dollar Tree flower seeds, vegetable seeds, and other seed options seem to be the biggest draw for gardeners to shop here. You’ll hear about the seeds all over gardening social media pages.
It definitely makes sense since seeds are so much fun to collect and the prices can’t be beat!
Over the years, my favorite Dollar Tree vegetable seeds were the yellow squash and green zucchini.
My favorite flower seeds from the dollar store were definitely the zinnias! Although I’m also a big fan of the cosmos seeds, too.
Beyond that, I also want to try the Dollar Tree wildflower seeds and see how those work out for the pollinators.
25 Cent Seed Packets
How can you go wrong with 25 cent seed packets?! No matter if you’re growing flowers or veggies, you’ll love the wide variety of quarter seeds you can find at Dollar Tree. The 25 cent seeds range from peppers to marigolds, zinnias, helichrysum, and so much more.
On seed swap groups, I’ve seen some seasoned gardeners throwing a bit of shade at Dollar Tree Gardening Seeds. I personally have no existing bias of these seeds and look forward to giving them a fair shot in my garden!
Back in 2021, by the time I found some seeds at Dollar Tree, ours was pretty well picked through. I was happy to find the variety that I did, though, including the strawflowers!
Now I know to plan further in advance and start my seed hunting much earlier!
By the way, if you like finding deals on seeds, check out my good deals on Agway seeds clearance and discounted plants! I shared this post on what I found at our neighborhood Agway. Maybe yours has some good deals on plants and seeds waiting for you!
In March 2023, I noticed a few larger seed packets at the dollar store.
I also found some Herb Rockets that looked interesting!
Dollar Tree Flower Bulbs
Again, like the seeds, the dollar store flower bulbs commanded my visit to the store. I desperately wanted to pick up some ranunculus corms and gladiolus bulbs.
Once I got there, I also picked out some freesia bulbs and Tigridia (also known as Mexican shell flowers or Tiger flowers).
I will continue to look for bulbs at the Dollar Tree, but if you really love bulb sales, be sure to watch my other posts for updates:
Dollar Tree Gardening Section
In our Dollar Tree, the seeds and bulbs were separate from the gardening supplies. I almost didn’t find them! Luckily, I saw two employees and asked them if they were sold out.
A separate display of seeds and bulbs sat in the center of the front of the store like a mystical castle of wonder. After all, it pretty much was. Just wait till you hear what I found!
- Diverse seed packets for peppers, vegetables, and flowers
- Flower bulbs and corms for Gladiolus, Freesia, and Ranunculus, to name a few
- Seed Rockets – I didn’t buy one of these but I was very tempted.
- Boxed Seed Mixes – Like Wildflower mix! Something like 12% seeds.
Dollar Tree Flower Pots
The dollar store often sells flower and plant pots to support your gardening endeavors.
Some of the popular styles available at Dollar Tree include:
- Hanging baskets
- Medium-sized plastic pots
- Metal bucket pots or oval planters
- Rectangular planters (window box style)
- Small animal pots (sometimes ceramic)
- Small plastic flower pots
- Stackable planters
Sometimes I’ve also found small 3 or 4-inch terra cotta pots there, too.
Dollar Tree Tier Planter – Social Media Sensation
I’ve seen the Dollar Tree tier planters all over my Instagram gardening communities and don’t they look AWESOME! Unfortunately, I initially dragged my feet getting to the store due to the pandemic and they quickly sold out.
Well, somewhat. At the original time of this post, it looked like you can still buy them on the Dollar Tree’s website, but then it’s a bulk order of 36 pieces. I would LOVE to have 36 pieces, but I don’t think that would fly over here.
Flash forward to 2022 and I lucked out – scoring 7 Dollar Tree Stackable Planters! You can check out my review and tips on using them!
I most definitely do NOT regret this purchase! They were absolutely worth the money and proved to be versatile in my garden.
Seed Starter Pots
This year I’m focused on optimizing our garden spaces and letting my kids get a taste of how they can be little entrepreneurs. Or philanthropists. Or a bit of both!
I picked up some Dollar Tree seed starter pots so we can pot up from the egg cartons and eventually sell some seedlings to our local gardening community. First, I’ll be planting a lot of seeds using the paper towel germination method.
These seed starter pots seem about the same as the ones you’d buy on Amazon in bulk. I may have more than I need now, but I’m sure they’ll come in handy for selling seedlings or just potting up!
More Gardening Supplies at Dollar Tree
I happily checked out all the cool gardening items at Dollar Tree. So much value for just a buck and a quarter!
Dollar Tree Garden Tools
In a pinch, you can often find gardening tools at Dollar Tree, too!
Keep in mind these won’t be your fine quality Fiskars pruners or a hori hori or anything like that.
But for a buck 25, you can get away with a set of shears, a hand rake, and maybe even a trowel if you are lucky!
Something new I noticed this year in 2023 is the plastic watering stake!
Much like those Aqua Globes plant watering bulbs, I can totally see the value in the plastic version for sale at the dollar store.
Dollar Tree Garden Décor
I also noticed an entire section devoted to Dollar Tree’s gardening décor. Wind chimes, garden ornaments, gardening pots, and so many other lovely garden items graced the shelves and racks, just waiting for a great new home.
In 2021 or 2022, I noticed two different options to install an aesthetic garden fence. With the look of a miniature black picket fence, these garden fences seemed like a neat addition to your yard’s décor.
Dollar Store Fairy Garden
You don’t need a specialty kit to make a fairy garden. You can plan a fairy garden with your kids or make one solo. It could even be a fun night with friends or your next girls’ night out.
You might be surprised to hear the Dollar Tree garden section also included a small rack of fairy garden characters or accessories. I didn’t stay long enough to see it all, but it’s such a sweet addition to the traditional gardening gear.
Past Years’ Gardening Finds at Dollar Tree
When I first wrote this post, we had social distanced and curbside shopped our way through 12 and a half months. The year was 2021. Back then I realized I couldn’t go through another growing season without checking out some of the latest gardening supplies, so I masked up and stopped into Dollar Tree for a really quick browse.
My favorite Dollar Tree gardening items back in 2021 were:
- Lovely White Plastic Plant Markers
- Reel of Plant Ties
- Gardening Gloves
- Animal Succulent Planters, like a jaguar, elephant, bear, etc.
- Gardening Seeds, Bulbs, and other goodies
You can also find Dollar Tree fertilizer spikes to give your plants a little boost!
Gardening tools also chilled out on the racks, and if you looked carefully, you might also find a few gardening grow kits.
The gardening stuff at Dollar Tree definitely proved worthwhile for my trip. (Although truth be told, I was driving literally right past this store.)
My 2021 Dollar Tree gardening finds were worth the 10-minute dash into the store!

Final Thoughts: Dollar Tree Gardening
The Dollar Tree Gardening selection of tools, pots, 25 cent seeds, bulbs, and so much more make it an exciting treasure hunt for new garden supplies.
Despite the recent price increase last year to $1.25, this dollar store makes the gardening hobby accessible and affordable to all gardeners.
You can find everything you need to start a container garden and beyond.
When I first wrote this post, I went to two different Dollar Tree stores on the same day and found quite a different selection. The first, Dollar Tree in the Audubon Village Shopping Center, was very picked-through on the day I went. I am not sure if they had a separate seeds and bulbs section because I didn’t expect it to be separate.
At the Limerick Dollar Tree in Pennsylvania, I luckily found a much bigger selection along with a fantastic assortment of bulbs and whatever was left of the seeds. Pickings were slim but satisfying!
I’ve visited numerous dollar stores since then, too. By the way, when I visit, I will update with the latest Dollar Tree garden supplies in my Facebook album as well!
